The transnational region spanned by the European Territorial Cooperation Programmes, “Greece-Italy”, “Greece-Cyprus” and “Greece-Italy” has high potential for improving safety and information systems to address the needs of ports and regions.
In the framework of the new Programmatic Period 2014-2020, the Interreg Programme organised successfully the workshop, “Innovation in harmonised and sustainable solutions for increased competitiveness in smart ports and regions” on the 17th of December 2015 in the premises of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks, in Athens, Greece.
The aim of the workshop was to provide a synthetic overview of what has been accomplished in the implementation and harmonisation of solutions and standards in the field covering the increased competitiveness of ports and their regions, with a view to integration and capitalisation. The workshop highlighted the specific findings and results delivered by Interreg projects in the fields of Ports ITS, ports environmental impacts, and transport/environmental solutions for coastal areas and hinterland. The projects which participated in the workshop were the following: SAFEPORT, POSEIDON, TRITONAS, IONIO, CUTS, EL-PORT-AL, DIAVLOS, GAIA, ARGHES, ACCSEL, GUIDEPORT, GIFT 2.0,PRODROMOS.
